Texas Tears Celebrate Lit Book Tour and Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on Celebrate Lit’s Book Tour for Texas Tears by author Caryl McAdoo.  You will find information on this wonderful book and exquisite author.  She has a generous giveaway so be sure to sign up.  Grand prize is $50 gift card.  There are four other prizes, too.

My Thoughts

Texas Tears is the second book in the Thanksgiving Books and Blessings Series featuring multiple authors.  It is written by award winning, best selling author Caryl McAdoo.  In this Christian Historical Western Romance, she again delivers a page turning novel.

In this story we meet Charity and Arlene, best friends.  They both are interested in  “Hart” Eberhart.  Hart has an interfering mother.  She tries to sway him in his decision about the girls.  They begin the book a bit immature and bratty, but they are still sweet.  There is also Landry from Louisiana as well as a cast of parents.

All of the characters are unique, well rounded, and realistic.  Author McAdoo has a way of bringing her people to life on the pages.  They become friends.  I wanted to have a chat with the girls and their parents.  Even Hart was someone with whom I wanted to have a conversation.

There are lovely inspirational messages in this novel.  That is one of my favorite things about McAdoo’s writing.  She writes to bring glory to God and to inspire her readers.  Messages of trusting the future to God, forgiveness, redemption, respecting parents, living in unity and peace, and being unequally yoked are just a few packed into this delightful Christian sweet romance.

It did take me a few pages to get invested in this story.  If you find that you start reading it and aren’t quite interested, please keep reading.  It turns into a fascinating story that you will not want to put down.

I highly recommend this book.  It is appropriate for teenagers and adults.  Everyone will enjoy it and glean inspiration from the messages it holds.  Caryl McAdoo is an exceptionally gifted writer, and this book is another great labor of love.  It gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me.  A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit, but this is my honest opinion.

More from Caryl

TEXAS TEARS includes the vote to enter the Union or remain a Republic in 1845. Though it ended in an overwhelming approval to become a state, believe you me, tears fell all over Texas and have been falling since for some.

As a semi-closet secessionist, it wouldn’t bother me if the Texas Legislature voted tomorrow to become the Second Republic of Texas! There are plenty of true radicals living today in the Lone Star State who work diligently daily toward that end!

Anyway, tears also fell in the new Texas community where the four families first met in GONE TO TEXAS—the O’Neals, Van Zandts, Worleys, and Harrells—have been settling in five years. One of their own, Thomas Baldwin (introduced in book two, TEXAS MY TEXAS) represented them in the Texas Congress, going to Washington on the Brazos to vote!

Not all the tears that fell in that growing community were over the vote, but rather a man who came riding in on a magnificent black stallion. Eberhart de Vecchi was tall, handsome, and a perfect Prince Charming who swept the two young coming-of-age women there right off their high-topped shoes!

Friends their whole lives, the older, Charity O’Neal, claimed him right off, but Arlene Van Zandt the younger—only by six months and three days—who’s always given in before isn’t ready to acquiesce so quickly in this instance, smitten as she is.

And so, thar’s trouble in them thar hills! To thicken the sludge, enters the hard-working Landry Humble, Monroe’s (also introduced in book two TEXAS MY TEXAS) nephew. This young man, able to pick more than twice his weight in cotton in a day, knows immediately which lovely he wants.

My, my, my . . . the tears do fall in Texas, and not everyone can have a happy ending. Or can they?

Jewel’s Gold Celebrate Lit Tour and Amazon $50 Card Giveaway

My Thoughts:

Author Caryl McAdoo has written a lovely Alaskan Gold Rush tale in Jewel’s Gold.  She is a master storyteller extraordinaire, and I always look forward to her books.  The author has a way with words that will take readers to times and places never before travelled.

I found this tale so fascinating.  The scenery was well defined that I felt like I took the trip with them.  This is much more than a romance tale. I learned about The Alaskan Gold Rush.  It has adventure, mystery, deceit, romance, and lessons on forgiveness, self discovery, and faith.

The characters are feisty and realistic.  Jewel is sassy and pretty.  Boaz was hard to like at first but then I warmed up to him.  Both of their mothers were a hoot!  This book provides some comic relief, too.

I highly recommend this sweet story.  As with all books, the author writes she brings glory to God.  I read this in one sitting and wanted more!  It definitely earned a 5 star rating from me.

A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

About the Author

Caryl Cabo BeachAward-winning, hybrid author Caryl McAdoo prays her story gives God glory! That is why she writes, why she breathes. Her forty-fourth novel has just launched, joining her best-selling title list! Besides writing, she loves singing the new songs the Lord gives her. (Listen to a few at YouTube.) Ron, her husband of 50+ years shares four children and eighteen grandsugars—life’s best blessings, Caryl says. The McAdoos live in the woods south of Clarksville, seat of Red River County in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open the next door.

More from Caryl

Jewel’s Gold, my July release and book four in the Gold Diggers Collection, begins in San Francisco in 1895 and moves quickly north to Alaska on Troublesome Creek where Jewel’s papa has a gold mine. My husband Ron was on Troublesome Creek in 1993 seeking the Lord. While there, he also did a little prospecting.

To mention gold is to speak of wealth as gold is the most sought-after metal in the world. It’s found on every continent, and I’ve discovered it can be located our bodies as well! Mostly in our blood! Small traces have also been extracted from eucalyptus leaves, a favorite snack of Koala bears!

Jewel Jones is the daughter of Joshua Jones, son of Moses and Lanell introduced in SINS OF THE MOTHERS, book three in the Texas Romance Family Saga. Truth be known, little Joshua was in fact a Wheeler, not as Jones, though Moses reared him as his own son.

His real father was Caleb who married Mary Rachael Buckmeyer and talked her into running off to California. So, this book may also be classified as a ‘Companion Book’ to that highly acclaimed historical romance series.

Ron has always wanted to go back and show me Alaska, and one day we most likely will go north . . . but only in the summer! Who doesn’t love leaving Texas for northern, cooler temperatures in the summer?
This story has a little mystery along with the romance and history. When we drove the Oregon/California Trail last December, we visited the site of Sutter’s Mill where the gold rush of 1849 was born. That last place we went before turning south and east back to Texas was an unexpected stop.

On the American River, the park and museum offered an amazing place to visit, and knowing this book was on the schedule made it all the more interesting! I also believe that place will add to the genuine feel of Jewel’s Gold.

“Bipartisan Love” Celebrate Lit Tour & Giveaway

 My Thoughts:

This is an older Contemporary or newer historic Christian romance written by author and storyteller extraordinaire, Caryl MacAdoo.  The reason I say older is it is set right after the assassination of Bobby Kennedy.  While that might not seem historic to me, it actually is.

Bipartisan Love is another delicious serving of God glorifying fiction from author MacAdoo.  It is a different type of story and I loved every bit of it.  The author’s down home honest style of writing draws me right in from the first page and keeps me until the story is finished.  This was filled with emotions, life lessons, faith, humor, and of course romance.

The author has researched her material well.  The characters were delightful and very realistic.  Each seemed like someone we would know.  Conversations were saturated with colloquialisms, making them even more authentic.  With the author’s vivid descriptions I felt like I was in the middle of the story myself.

This is the story of Cynthia and Cody, high school sweethearts.  It is a tale of forgiveness, trusting God and His timing, starting over again, betrayal, love, and second chances.  It is about faith, family, and friends.

I highly recommend this delightfully written novel.  It gets a rating of 5 out of 5 stars from me.  A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but I was not required to write a review.  These are my own honest words.

About the Book:

Book: Bipartisan Love

Author: Caryl MacAdoo

Genre: Historical Christian Romance

Release date: June 20, 2019

Don’t lean to your own understanding. Acknowledge God in all your ways, and He will direct your path.

Does time truly heal a broken heart?

Cody thought it had until she walked into the diner like she owned the world and back into his life as if she owned him.

Can betrayal ever be completely forgiven?

Cindy thought it could until she saw him with the bleached blonde. Her Cody!

Separated eighteen years, Cody Wayne Buckmeyer and Cindy think they can put the past behind them and work toward a common goal, a congressional seat . . . but is that possible?

About the Author:

Caryl McAdooPraying her story gives God glory, award-winning, best-selling author Caryl McAdoo loves revisiting beloved characters in her novels. And her readers are glad she does! She’s blessed that her titles earned over fifty-percent 5-Star ratings and eighty-five to ninety percent 4 & 5-Stars! With forty-four novels (thirty-four in the last four-and-a-half years), it’s obvious she loves writing, but singing the new songs the Lord gives her also rates high. (Listen to a few at YouTube.)

Married to Ron, her high school sweetheart, she counts their four children and eighteen grandsugars life’s best blessings. The McAdoos live in the woods south of Clarksville, seat of Red River County in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open the next door.

More from Caryl:

I totally enjoy revisiting characters from previous stories! That’s one reason I love writing ‘Family Sagas” like the Texas Romances that has ten full length novels and Cross Timbers Romances with two books and counting! The third launches this coming September.

In BIPARTISAN LOVE, we get to spend time again with the Buckmeyers—Travis and Emma Lee from Texas Romance Book Ten CHIEF OF SINNERS. My heart could barely leave these dear people after book ten, so I’ve written a few “Companion Books” (five and counting 😊) that go with the Texas Romance series—either going back to meet ancestors or forward for their descendants or just more stories with the characters you already love.

Readers first met Cody Buckmeyer and his kissing cousin (by marriage) best friend Cynthia Kramer as pre-teens in SON OF PROMISE. In that story, Emma Lee, so longing to be a mom, gets her heart’s desire in Cody, her husband’s son she’s never known about. The two youngsters became fast friends, but Cindy went overseas when LBJ gave her father an ambassadorship.

It’s been eighteen years, and Cody’s engaged to another. After her letters stopped, he gave up all hope. A liberal Democrat, Cynthia comes home after working in Hubert Humphries’ losing bid for the presidency, and wants Cody, a conservative Republican, to run for a Congressional seat with her as his campaign manager!

How’s this supposed to work?

“Uniquely Common” by Author Caryl McAdoo Celebrate Lit Book Tour

Welcome to my stop on Celebrate Lit’s tour for “Uniquely Common” by Author Caryl McAdoo.  We will talk about the Book, learn about the author, and hear her thoughts on the book.  She has a generous giveaway so be sure to enter it at the end.  Let’s get started.

My Thoughts

The first thing I noticed was the beautiful cover on Uniquely Common by Caryl McAdoo.  The next thing was that it was part of the Lockets and Lace Collection.  The title of the book “Uniquely Uncommon” struck me as intriguing, also.  All that being said, I was ready to dive in.

From page one this book had my interest.  I became invested in the characters lives quickly.  Poor Asher, a widower with two daughters and a younger sister tagging along on his journey out West.  Christine (Chrissy), his sister, had just been jilted by her scoundrel of a boyfriend.  The girls, her adorable nieces, decide to become matchmakers for their beloved auntie.

Wow, what a delightful book.  I giggled my way through it.  Author McAdoo has a knack for combining inspiration, faith, humor, history, and romance into one entertaining book that keeps readers on their toes.  Plenty of twists and turns are added to maintain interest throughout the story.  For me, the faith element was not as strong as in some of her books, but it is still woven from beginning to end.  There is no question that this is a Christian Fiction novel. This books lives up to its Christian Fiction categorization.

Set in 1851, this book takes readers on a train ride and then boat journey to California.  It has many fun historical facts about the time period and pioneers.  I love books that leave me with information.  It is a fun way to learn.

Author McAdoo scoops readers right up and plops them down in the middle of her setting and storyline.  Her characters become friends as I “live” each book.  This brilliant offering was well thought, researched, and exquisitely written.

Whether you are a seasoned fan of Caryl McAdoo or this will be your first time to experience one of her books, you will no doubt love it.  I certainly did.  She brings characters, settings, and situations to live with her lovely engaging writing style.

I highly recommend this book.  It is a fast paced one so be prepared to call out for dinner or eat left overs.  You won’t want to stop reading to cook dinner!  I didn’t.  There are no discussion questions at the end, but there are sneak previews for upcoming books.  “Uniquely Common” gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me.   It was a page-turning delight for me.  I think a book club would love reading and discussing this book.  A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my own thoughts and opinions.

Hannah Claire’s Wilderness Book Tour and Giveaway

You have found my stop on “Hannah Claire’s Wilderness” Celebrate Lit book tour.  Author Caryl McAdoo is generously giving away six prizes so read all the way to the end for entry instructions.  You might be a winner if you apply.

My Thoughts:

Author McAdoo is a natural storyteller.  It took me one paragraph, that’s right one, to become invested in this beautiful story.  I have read many of the author’s works but this one by far excels all of them.  It is the second book in her “The Revivalist Trilogy” but could easily be read as a stand alone.  I loved it and would definitely recommend it for many reasons.  It captivated me.  I opened it up and could not put it down.

The characters are realistic.  They are vividly described and so well rounded I forgot they were characters and deemed them friends.  I wanted to have tea and chat with them.  It was Little Adaolisa was adorable.  The author has transferred her knowledge and love for children onto paper effortlessly.

Not only has she shown her love for children, but the author’s love for Godis apparent in this novel also.  In her books she writes “Praying my story gives God glory” and she does. Using scripture, inspiration, and life lessons this book is an encouragement to readers.  It will help draw readers in closer to Abba and give them things to ponder.

Topics relevant today are packed into Hannah Claire’s Wilderness – depression, God’s guidance, danger, obedience, hope, love, hearing from God, His timing, parenthood, violence, spreading God’s Word.  Humor is sprinkled in to give readers relief from such heavy subject matter.

I absolutely loved the beginning of the book and how Adaolisa and Hannah Claire communicated.  This was so inspirational and faithfilled.  Bravo, Ms. McAdoo.  It is so refreshing to know a novel is Christian and not need a magnifying glass or to guess.

There was one thing I missed, a very minor one, and that is a Discussion Question Section.  This is a perfect book for a church reading group or even a group of friends.  I highly recommend this book.  It is a page-turning, engaging fiction book that will take you on the Mission field with David and Hannah Claire.  It earns a 5 out of 5 stars from me.  A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but I was under no obligation to write a review.  These are my own, honest opinions.

Caryl McAdooCaryl McAdoo prays her story brings God glory which is what she lives to do. Her award-winning, best-selling novels enjoy a lion’s share of 5-Star ratings from Christian readers around the world. With forty titles, it’s obvious she loves writing almost as much as singing the new songs the Lord gives her—listen to a few at YouTube. Guest Post from Caryl

Have you ever thought you heard from God, and acted on that in obedience—oft at great sacrifice—only to doubt that you heard Him at all when things don’t go as you’d planned? Actually, everything almost goes just the opposite, and your world is turned upside down.

Did you really hear Him?

That’s what my heroine Hannah Claire faces, when a two-year stint looks like it’s turning into a lifetime commitment. Though I’ve never been abroad to the mission field, I’ve faced much the same thing as Hannah, believing I heard Him and then nothing happening as expected!

Personally, I’ve been waiting over thirty years, but have found great peace in that waiting and trusting God—knowing that He is on the throne and in control. I will never doubt that the vision He’s given, the call He’s placed on mine and Ron’s lives WILL come to pass, just as it did for Abraham.

Hannah doesn’t have to wait that long, but her experience takes her to the depths of fear and depression before she comes to know her Heavenly Father is altogether trustworthy. The Shepherd walks her through the valley of the shadow of death and makes her to lie down in green pastures. He stills the raging waters and leads her beside them.

Book three, King David’s Tabernacle, coming sometime in 2020, will bring the reward and give you glory bumps every step of the way as God makes Himself known in a mighty way, but first . . . there’s the refining. Gold is passed through the fire seven times to be purified.

Silver as well, until the smith can see his reflection. Followers of Christ are all being made into the image of God’s Beloved Son, and we can rest in the fact that He who began that good work in us at salvation will be faithful to complete it until His coming again.

I pray you will enjoy your journey through Hannah Claire’s Wilderness.

My Review

Gone to Texas is Book One in the Thanksgiving Books & Blessings Collection, a part of Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga. The Christian historical novel is written by master wordsmith author Caryl Macadoo. She does not disappoint with this one. It is another God glorifying, inspirational, entertaining book. Even the cover is just beautiful.

Set pre-Civil War, this is the tale of families leaving Tennessee and journeying to Texas. The characters are plentiful and at times hard to remember because of the large number. Once I got to know them, I had everyone straight. They are well described, lovable, flawed, and realistic. The story centers around the O’Neal, Worley, and Van Zandt clan, as they venture together to Texas. After a few pages I was all into this tale. I did not want to put it down until I had finished it.

Have you ever wanted to go on a wagon trip? As we can imagine the wagon expedition is not an easy one. Author Macadoo brings it to life with her vivid descriptions and verbiage. Wildlife, river crossings, ailments, rebelous teenagers and disappointments were all company on this trip. Author Macadoo’s writing took me right into the midst of it all! The trials encountered, both physical and emotional, were easy to understand and emphasize. The triumphs were equally felt and celebrated with these families. These families dealt with things we do today, tragedy, envy, unfaithfulness, wavering faith, jealousy, weariness, compassion, forgiveness, compassion, and redemption. The encouragement and Christian messages are abundant which are things I crave in Christian fiction.

This is a very well organized, well planned, and well researched book. Caryl McAdoo’s novels always teach me something. That is important to me as a reader. The conversation between characters was plentiful and flowed smoothly. Her use of colloquialisms makes her stories a true joy. I loved them! She has a down to earth style of writing that makes reading her books so enjoyable. There will always be some laughter tucked into her story to brighten a reader’s day. She includes scripture and things to deepen readers’ walk with God. It is easy to find things to ponder and think about long after finishing this book.

I would definitely recommend this one. It has great characters in which I immediately became invested. I want more of them! Alisha and Liberty became like old friends. This is a sweet historical romance with adventure that you don’t want to miss. My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.

Guest Post from Caryl

As much as I hated leaving the Buckmeyers, Baylors, and Nightingales and the Red River Valley, I loved starting this fresh Family Saga series with all new characters! GONE TO TEXAS is Book One of the Cross Timber Romances and features three families—the O’Neals, Van Zandts, and Worleys—joined by blood and friendship through Liberty O’Neal. Laud Worley is her little brother and Mallory Van Zandt, her best friend since school days.

Together, they’d traveled south to settle in Tennessee and were about to harvest their first cotton crop that fall in 1840 when they discovered the deed to their land—the land they’d spent all their pooled savings on—was forged and no-good.

The legal owner graciously allows them to stay through harvest, taking his portion of their labor and cottonseed. At the gin, Seve Van Zandt hears rumors of Texas, a new Republic out west, offering free land to pioneers willing to tame its wildlands. This first story—book one—is all about their journey to the new country filled with hope and dreams.

A hired widower who with his daughter and slave helped harvest the clan’s cotton asked to join them on their journey, and so, on that fateful September morn, seventeen souls set out after they hung a hand-painted sign on one of the cabins they left behind. “Gone to Texas”!

Another very special thing about this novel, one hundred twelve thousand words—about three hundred fifty pages, is that it is also book one in a brand new collection! The Thanksgiving Books and Blessings Collection that includes stories from eight other authors besides me: Lena Nelson Dooly, Heather Blanton, Kristin Holt, Kit Morgan, Suzette Williams, Pauline Creeden, George McVey, and Lynette Sowell!

All nine books will have Thanksgiving Dinner with family around the table, giving thanks to God for all his blessings. I’ve noticed many series launched in December, but Thanksgiving is my favorite. I love giving thanks to the Lord!

And as always, I pray my story gives God glory, and that its readers will be drawn closer to Him through it. He blesses and highly favors me daily. I cannot thank or praise Him enough!

Find a Book Friday: I AM My Beloved by Caryl McAdoo

Do you enjoy reading biblical fiction?  You know, stories about things written in the Bible?  Today on Find a Book Friday that is what I have found for you.  A biblical novel about people from the Old Testament.  Is it any good, you ask?  Well, I read it all in one setting!
Author Caryl McAdoo has written a biblical fiction entitled “I AM My Beloved”.  This 178 page book was easily devoured by me in one setting.  I was immediately drawn into the interesting story and could not put it down.  It is normal for author McAdoo’s to grab my attention and not let go.
Author McAdoo’s writing style is graceful and flows smoothly.  Her characters are well defined and well rounded with attributes and flaws.  The descriptive writing style took me back to ancient days and places.  I felt like a visitor.
This is the tale of Solomon and Abishag.  She was a chaste wife married to King David and still a virgin after his death. Then she is summoned to be with the new King Solomon.  The book kept my attention but it is no action, adventure, big romance book. There are bedroom scenes when Abishag is sent in to be King David’s blanket by warming up a King whose failing heart cannot do the job.  However, there is nothing sexual about it. This is a sweet book that will help you grow in your journey with God.
Abishag runs through a wide range and depth of emotions. The writing was so well done that I was taken with her, too.  My heart broke for Abishag often and then I was able to laugh and rejoice. It was interesting reading the story of Song of Solomon acted out in a novel. Author McAdoo is so creative, fun, and emotional in her writing of this story.  It gives it a breath of fresh air, although I did not agree with how everything was portrayed. It was captivating and hard to put down.
Definitely this book gets my recommendation.  If you like biblical fiction you will not want to miss this.  It is sweet yet gives you things to reflect upon during and after reading it.  Get a group together because this would be a nice book club selection.  I received a copy of this book from the author. I rated it 5 out of 5 stars.  The opinions and review are my own, honest ones.

Read a Book Monday: John David’s Calling by Caryl McAdoo

John David’s Calling by Texas author Caryl McAdoo is Book One in her new series The Revivalist. This is a 342 page Christian romance set in 1960s and 1970s Texas.  I was surprised it was classified as historical.  It took me one page to get drawn into this delightful story.  Author McAdoo does that effortlessly with her God honoring writing.
This is the story of John David Nightingale.  His father and grandfather are both revivalist preachers.  Now he, too, is hearing that same calling for his life.  Both of his parents live in extremely different families.  One was mainstream, one was charismatic, and David was caught in the middle.  His sweetheart is Hannah, and she is ready for marriage.
Author McAdoo tackles some tough issues head on in this book.  3DF577C3-ADA3-418B-8FBE-83D9EF7A27ACShe discusses religious differences among Christians, drugs, war, faith, trust, and love.  How about trying to make everyone happy?  Who hasn’t been in that situation before?  John David’s Calling is very inspiring and will encourage readers to think long after they have finished it.  Leaning on God is stressed, as is trusting in Him.
The writing style of this author is so pleasing to me.  She always provides characters that you do not want to give up.  They are well defined and well rounded complete with flaws that they own.  Her descriptive text is on point and transported me to that time and place.  My emotions were all over the place along side the characters.  I was laughing and tearing up within a matter of pages.  That is the mark of a good author, giving me a roller coaster ride.  I read it fast to see what would happen next but didn’t want it to end!  Thankfully there is an entire series coming so I will not need to say farewell to these dear friends.
I highly recommend this lovely, moving book for any and everyone.  It would be a great summer book and new series.  A book club would benefit from reading and discussing this.  There are plenty of issues to chat about here.  I gladly, freely give this a 5 out of 5 stars and eagerly await the next installment.  A copy was provided by the author but I was not obligated to write a review.  The opinions stated are my own, honest ones.
