Texas Holiday Hideout Celebrate Lit Book Tour

Texas Holiday Hideout by author Virginia Vaughan is a contemporary Christian mystery suspense adventure. It is the second book in her Cowboy Lawmen series. From page one readers are taken on a nonstop adventure.

This is the story of Melissa Morgan. She and her three year old son, Dylan, are forced into hiding from the person who murdered her mother. After her mother’s death, Melissa discovers a secret. She was raised in the Witness Protection Program (WITSEC). Finally the people her mother was testifying against had caught up with her and murdered her. Melissa saw the assassin and is his next target.

U.S. Marshall Miles Avery the agent assigned with Melissa and Dylan’s care. from harm. It is harder than it seems as there is a mole in his organization. Miles opts to take them to his family ranch.

I really enjoyed this book. The author has a nice way of keeping readers on their toes. The characters are well written. They all were believable. It was easy to become invested in their lives. I enjoyed the conversations which were realistic.

Secrets, intrigue, and action abound in this thriller. There are lots of twists and turns to keep readers turning pages. Even though this is the second book in a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone.

I recommend this to lovers of mysteries, romance, and contemporary fiction. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words. It receives a 4 star rating from me.

More from Virginia

What if one day you discovered you were in the Witness Protection Program and didn’t know it?

This is the premise for my October book, TEXAS HOLIDAY HIDEOUT, which releases this month. My heroine, Melissa Morgan, learns she and her mother entered the program when Melissa was a child. Her mother never told her and, when Melissa witnesses her mother being murdered, she becomes the assassin’s next target. US Marshal Miles Avery steps in to protect the single mom and her son from a killer, but a leak in WITSEC leaves him with little options except to take his witnesses to his family’s ranch…and pretend she’s his wife for the holidays.

So, in celebration of TEXAS HOLIDAY HIDEOUT releasing this month, here are 10 things about the Witness Protection Security Program (or WITSEC) I learned during my research for this book.

  1. The program is voluntary. No one can be forced to enter.
  2. You can leave the program at any time—although it is not recommended.
  3. No person in the program, who follows the rules, has ever been killed.
  4. People entering WITSEC sometimes keep their same first name and/or initials so that if they mess up and start to sign their name, they have time to correct.
  5. Since WITSEC is a federal program, many states have their own programs to protect witnesses of gang or street-level crimes.
  6. If you get married while in WITSEC, you must lie to your new spouse to protect your true identity in the event the relationship doesn’t last.
  7. Protected witnesses are mostly criminals. Only about 5% are innocents despite the popular trope in movies and fiction.
  8. Local law enforcement may or may not be notified when a protected witness is relocated to their jurisdiction.
  9. Divorced, non-custodial parents have had their children hidden from them and now must agree to allow their children to enter the program.
  10. WITSEC protected witnesses are expected to eventually become self-sufficient. They do not get to live off the government for the rest of their lives.

Did any of these facts about WITSEC surprise you? I’d love to hear which ones. I had a lot of fun researching WITSEC for TEXAS HOLIDAY HIDEOUT. I hope you enjoy Miles and Melissa’s story! Look out for the next book in the series—middle brother Navy SEAL Paul Avery’s story—coming in TEXAS TARGET STANDOFF in March of 2021.

Marry Me for Real, Cowboy Celebrate Lit Book Tour and Giveaway

Marry Me for Real, Cowboy is Book One in the Cavanagh Cowboys Series by author Valerie Comer.  It is a Contemporary Christian Romance cowboy novel.  The book is not long and can easily be read in one evening.

This is the first book that I have read by author Comer.  She has a nice style of writing and storytelling.   Her characters were very believable.   I enjoyed the smooth dialogs.  They did not feel stiff or forced.  The descriptions were enough to place me in the setting but not bore me.  I became invested within the first few pages of the book.

Both main characters Adam and Riley were untrusting of the opposite sex.  A fake engagement worked perfectly for them.  A fake engagement did not work well for me as the subject for a Christian book due to the amount of lies and stories that were told.  Yes, there is a great lesson to be learned in telling the truth, but I expected something more.  This probably won’t bother most people.

The story and writing were good.  The life lessons on family, conflict, and trusting God were great and should stick with readers.  The spiritual lessons were plentiful.  The romance was sweet.

I would recommend it to certain groups.  I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.  A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

About the Book

Book:  Marry Me for Real, Cowboy

Author: Valerie Comer

Genre:  Christian Contemporary Romance

Release Date: September 8, 2020

Adam Cavanagh’s rodeo championship tastes like dirt after a competitor’s critical injury, but going home to his family’s Montana ranch isn’t much of an improvement. If not even the coveted trophy earns his stepfather’s respect, what will it take?

Riley Dunning’s quick thinking is all that’s keeping her body, soul, and principles together, but demanding a kiss from a hunky cowboy to deter the weirdo following her might be taking things too far… especially when the cowboy comes up with a risky plan that might offer them both stability. If it doesn’t backfire completely.

Will a fake engagement give Adam and Riley the leg up they each need, or will the cost to their hearts be too high? Because neither believes the other will want to marry them… for real.

About the Author

Valerie Comer is a USA Today bestselling author and a two-time Word Award winner. She writes engaging characters, strong communities, and deep faith into her green clean romances.

Valerie’s life on a small farm in western Canada provides the seed for stories of contemporary Christian romance. She only hopes her imaginary friends enjoy their happily-ever-afters as much as she does hers, shared with her husband, adult kids, and adorable granddaughters.

More from Valerie

Oh, cowboys…

Four years after I began publishing farm romances, I added my first cowboy romance series to the lineup. “It’s not that different,” I told myself and anyone who would listen. “Ranches are almost the same as farms. A few more horses, a few less random other animals!”

Ah, but cowboys are deemed more attractive than farmers! Maybe it’s their uniform. You know, a Stetson. Plaid snap-front shirts under denim jackets. Well-worn jeans. Cowboy boots. That combo looks better on a book cover than the stereotypical farmer in a straw hat, overalls, and rubber boots!

Whether focusing on cowboys, farmers, or gardeners, all of my green clean romances feature engaging characters, strong communities, and deep faith. Are the characters perfect Christians? Nope. No more than you and I are. There’s always room to grow.

In Marry Me for Real, Cowboy, the first story in my new Cavanagh Cowboys Romance, Adam decides a fiancée is just what he needs to impress his stepfather. Not that Adam wants to get married any time soon, but surely it won’t come to that! But… how long do you think it will take for him to realize that he’s living a lie and not trusting God to handle his future? What will his path be to resolve his lack of faith as well as move forward both in romance and in his relationship with his stepdad? You may have to read Marry Me for Real, Cowboy and find out!

Forsaken Island Celebrate Lit Book Tour and Giveaway

Forsaken Island by author Sharon Hinck is a Christian Fantasy Romance novel.  It is Book Two in her Dancing Realms Series.   Book One is Hidden Current.

The author has written a fantastical story of a different world.  Using vivid descriptions and her talented pen, she takes readers away to it.  I was amazed and delighted.    It took me a little bit to become invested in the story because I had not read Book One.

After a bit I picked up on the people and land.  Their relationships were fabulous .  I loved the brilliant descriptions of things.  They made  me want to visit this place.

This is the tale of Carya and Brantley.  They live on the island of Meriel..  Their land is running out of supplies so when they notice another island floating nearby, they decide to look for food over there.  When they arrive on the other island crazy things happen.

This is a phenomenal story of good and evil, choices, redemption, and relationships.  It is beautifully written and has an encouraging message.  I really enjoyed the author’s style of writing and exceptional imagination.  This is like no other book I have read.

I recommend this book to anyone wanting to be entertained and inspired.  It has a beautiful message.  I would recommend reading Book One first.  This gets a five star rating from me.  I received a copy from Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

More from Sharon

Inspiration Behind Forsaken Island

In the first book of The Dancing Realms series, we learn about a floating island world guided by the work of dancers. The assumption of everyone on Meriel is that their island IS the world—the only existing place on a vast empty ocean.

But in this second book, currents have pushed a new island into view. Our intrepid dancer Carya, and her stenella-riding friend Brantley, set off to explore, hoping to find resources for their world of Meriel.

The story was influenced by some of my favorite classics in the adventure/exploration genre. Jack London (particularly The Sea Wolf), or Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. Or anything by Jules Verne or Robert Louis Stevenson. As the characters explore a new world, we experience both wonder and danger with them. I love that sort of story, so I set my two beloved characters of on an adventure to see what they would discover.

But of course, the book is also about the developing relationship between Carya and Brantley, and the conflicts they confront. And once again, an undercurrent (no pun intended) of spiritual themes is at play. The island holds dark secrets, and time is running out for the opportunity to find their way home.

I love the verse from Psalm 94:14. “For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.” Even on a “Forsaken Island” – the Maker of His people finds a way to reach out and bring hope.

Texas Trouble Celebrate Lit Book Tour and Giveaway

Texas Trouble is a Christian historical romance by award winning Texas storyteller Caryl McAdoo.  McAdoo has written numerous Christian fictional tales with many of them being in Texas.  She has become an expert on both subjects and has done extensive and excellent research.  This is book five in the Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga Series.  It can be read as a stand alone.

This wonderful book is the story of best friends friends Josie Jo Worley and Cass Andrews.  Friend and brother, Aaron Van Zandt and Rich Worley, have gone to fight in the Civil War.  There is one major problem.  They are on opposite sides.  The women are concerned about each one.

This is a tale of the emotional side of the war.  There are women left at home praying, keeping things going, and worrying. Things are happening that are suspicious.  Will the men come home?

I enjoy this author’s style of writing.  It is easy to ready and down to earth.  Her characters are relatable and realistic.  Each one is multi-layered and has flaws as well as good points.  By the end of the book, I felt like I had a new group of friends. I laughed and cried with them throughout the book.

I was invested in the story within the first few pages.   This book is full of history, twists & turns, romance, and lessons, both spiritual and life.  I love how the author always gives readers an inspirational message in each of her books.  I learn some history, too.  She writes about the Civil War realistically, but she doesn’t go into the bloody details.

I highly recommend this book.  There are many people will enjoy it. Christian Civil War, historical romance, and fiction readers will love it.  I believe this is the best book I have read by author McAdoo.  It was a page turner indeed!  I gladly give it five out of five stars.  A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

More from Caryl

The families in the Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga have embedded themselves into my heart. This story takes them through the Civil War, and not everyone comes home to Texas. Josie Jo, born in book one of the series is ready to confess her love because he’s leaving . . . and she may never see him again.

Her best friend Cassandra shouts her love for the same man and her brother loves her friend! I love to see how God untangles our messes! He walks with them through every trial, all their pain, and the waiting, waiting, waiting for the end of the war, news of their beaus, and to be married.

The title TEXAS TROUBLES came from an incident that occurred in North Texas just prior to the Days of Aggression. In the scorching July heat, reported one hundred and ten degrees on that fateful day, three downtowns—Dallas, Denton a little to the north, and Pilot Point, more of a hamlet—went up in flames.

Immediately word spread that slaves and pro-union abolitionists were responsible, and justice came swiftly at the hands of the vigilante committee. Three slaves, one a preacher, hanged the following day on the banks of the Trinity River which then was nearest the land now known as Dealy Plaza, made famous by President Kennedy’s assignation there.

Though it proved to be an extraordinarily hot summer—water wells dried up and crops withered in the fields as the hundred-degree days went on and on. On the 8th of July, 1860, many residents of Dallas sought refuge at Wallace Peak’s downtown drugstore; that’s where the fire started.

Flames spread quickly from one business to another, blown by the hot winds from one to the next. By the time the fire was extinguished half of Dallas’ business district was gone. Now, phosphorous matches are said to be the culprit through spontaneous combustion for the fires as they all started in establishments carrying the highly flammable fire-lighting sticks.

Many say the incident called the Texas Troubles precipitated the Southern States’ cessation and even the Civil War itself. Mainly because of the FAKE NEWS spread by a young editor at the Dallas Herald. He sent letters to newspapers in Houston, Austin, and others across the state blaming a slave up rise for the fires and warning that the slaves were rising up.

Guess we aren’t the first Americans to deal with fake new! Before it was all over, at least a hundred men had hanged, slaves and their white abolitionist advocates. The panic never truly abated because too soon, the war between the states that pit brothers against brothers began.

This is where TEXAS TROUBLES, book five in the Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga begins. One brother went the way of the vigilantes, the other traveled north to join the Federalists. I think you’ll love this story of love and the most terrible times our country has ever experienced.

When thinking about this book, powerful comes to mind.  The topics discussed are ones that are not often talked about or at least out in the open.  This brings them to light showing women they are not alone in such harrowing times.

I was moved by the stories and the women that wrote them.  Tears blurred some pages and I nodded in some sections.  Yes, we are not alone in our struggles.  Books like this offer counsel and encouragement in a biblical fashion.  I loved that it was scripturally based and God glorifying.

I highly recommend this book.  It would be a necessary addition to a church library.  So many woman will benefit from reading this book.  A small group of woman will benefit from reading this.  I received a copy from Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

More from Athena

In May 2019, while driving home from the Northwest Christian Writers Renewal with the sun out and the mountain in view, God gave me a vision of a movement. He gave me the name “She Writes for Him,” and I knew it would start as a book compilation, then a podcast, and finally a conference.

Here we are a year later, and She Writes for Him: Stories of Resilient Faith launched on May 12, 2020. Featuring Carol Kent, Tammy Trent, and Dr. Saundra Dalton Smith, 27 brave women share their hard stories of abortion, depression and anxiety, betrayal, loss, and shame.

The second edition is already taking submissions, and best-selling author Liz Curtis Higgs leads the lineup of contributors sharing on suffering, cancer, mental health, addictions, and abuse for She Writes for Him: Stories of Living Hope.

My hope in this book series is to address topics that have long been a struggle for the church to be the safe place it needs to be for those still hurting from wounds of the past. Those of us who love the Lord but have trauma in our pasts and are still on our healing journey need to be encouraged by others who have walked in our shoes. Perhaps we haven’t even started our healing journey yet, convinced we are the only one struggling the way we do or are too ashamed to admit our failures of the past. Wherever you fall on the spectrum, this compilation of brave women will encourage you to process your pain and experience the redemption in your areas of struggle.

Jack Celebrate Lit Book Tour and Giveaway

Christian storyteller, Chautona Havig, has written an inspirational romantic, historic story that is delightful in her offering “Jack, Ballads of the Heart.” Fans of various genre will be happy with this book. I was invested immediately.

This is the tale of cowboy Jack Clausen.  He is mostly a loner and does not want to open himself up for a broken-heart.  Beginning with a rough childhood, he has grown up not trusting women.  He grew up on the streets of New York.  It is also the tale of Hazel Meissner.  She comes from a well to do family, very different from Jack’s.

Hazel witnesses Jack do something heroic, and immediately she is intrigued with the good looking cowboy.  That’s just the opening of this fabulous tale.  The author quickly took me to the dusty, rowdy streets of old Kansas City.  She wrote with such finesse and descriptions that it was hard to imagine she had not lived there.

The characters are charming and believable.  Some are like friends that I did not want to leave.  The story had humor, inspiration, life lessons, and all things that make a western historical romance fun to read.

I really enjoy the author’s style of writing.  Her style is easy to read and follow.  The story flows smoothly at a good pace.

She writes sincere dialog, and then she can turn things around and make me chuckle. The spiritual messages are my favorite thing about her books. This one tackles family issues, redemption, and forgiveness.

I recommend this inspirational book to anyone, especially western fiction readers. It has a sweet, clean romance and an inviting historical story. I am eagerly awaiting Book Two. It receives 5 out of 5 stars from me. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

About the Book

Book:  Jack

Author: Chautona Havig

Genre:  Historical Western Romance

Release Date: January 26, 2016

Women are trouble—lying, cheating, untrustworthy bundles of trouble.

Jack Clausen doesn’t need anyone but his horse and a boss who won’t interfere in his personal life—or lack of one.

Sure, he’s a lonely cowboy, but better lonely than brokenhearted.

If only he hadn’t met a girl who made him hope that honest and true women do exist. Maybe he wouldn’t be riding off into a snowstorm with a fresh determination to avoid women—indefinitely.

When Hazel Meissner sees a cowboy risk life, limb, and horse to save a child, she knows he’s someone special. When he finally gives her his heart, she considers herself the most blessed woman alive.

However, when he rides off without a word, she wonders if her heart will survive the loss.

One broken man. One trusting woman. One orchestrated misunderstanding that tears them apart. What’ll it take to bring Jack home again?

It’s Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing mashed up with the old ballad, “Cowboy Jack.”  Don’t miss a cast of characters inspired by the Bard himself—especially Dirk and Deborah (Benedick & Beatrice).

Jack: a lot of hullaballoo on the prairie.

The Inspiration I Hate to Love

The plaintive notes of a ballad filled the living room. People sat on couches and chairs or stood in the doorway, listening. Three steps up the staircase, out of view of most of the room, a little girl sat, chin in her hands, listening.

If you looked close, you’d see freckles dotting her nose and crooked teeth that never were too large for her mouth like most children’s were. Just a bit closer, and you’d see wide, hazel eyes riveted to the man with the guitar seated on the hearth. To his right, a cup of coffee and sometimes a shot of whiskey.

With a voice like Jim Reeves (the non-twangy Reeves, mind you), the songs told stories, like all ballads do—a little blind girl praying for her father’s future happiness, a girl of thirteen who barely escaped a massacre in 19th century Wyoming. “Hazel eyes,” the man called her. California Joe—he was a real man, although not as good of one as the song made out.

Sometimes the man sang happier songs, but most of them were slow, western ballads that could keep Nicolas Sparks writing for decades.

And the little girl loved them all—especially California Joe and one about a cowboy who left his sweetheart alone on the prairie after a quarrel. One called “Cowboy Jack.”

As you’ve probably surmised, I was the little girl, and that man who sang and stirred the hearts of our family at nearly every gathering was my father.

How I miss those days.

For years, I wanted to give Jack a happier ending. See, the song goes like this. A lonely cowboy (with a heart so brave and true) meets and falls in love with a maiden (with eyes of heaven’s own blue). Alas, as with all good romances, the couple quarrel and Jack rides away. He finds a new band of cowboys and would have been just fine, but someone asks him to sing a song to “drive all cares away.” Alas, the song he devises is one about a “lonely maiden who waited for her Jack.”

Of course, he rides off to ask forgiveness. It’s all his fault. He arrives too late. She died of a broken heart on the “lonely prairie where skies are always blue.”

After I began writing, the idea came to me to turn those songs Dad sang—old ones that had been passed on and down through many different versions—into novels. I’d write all the subtext the songs left out.

I’d give them happy endings.

Of course, that’s easier said than done. One by one, I figured out how to do it, but Jack… well, I didn’t want to change the stories. I just wanted to leave on hope instead of despair

Shakespeare to the rescue!

I was watching Kenneth Branagh’s Much Ado about Nothing adaptation, and the answer came to me so clearly. It had the solution I needed. So, I smooshed the song and the play together. Inside, you’ll find the characters Shakespeare created (including Dirk and Deborah and their biting repartee—they steal the show!) in the setting and with the elements of the ballad, too.

Dad’s older now. His hands are gnarled with age, swollen with arthritis. His mind is slipping away. Today, you’ll find his guitar at my house. My son now owns it, but he doesn’t know the songs I heard played on the old Goya. Still, when I take it out of the case, tune it up, and pluck the strings, everything shifts. Suddenly, I’m nine years old again, sitting on my uncle’s stairs, just out of sight, watching. Listening. Heart breaking.

See, I’ll never hear my father play again, and I can’t play either. So, the songs will have to live on with stories of Mary, Jethro, Maggie… and of course, Jack.

Scrumptious Independence Celebrate Lit Book Tour

My Thoughts

Scrumptious Independence by author Melissa Wardwell is a yummy serving of Contemporary Christian Romance fiction.  This is Book 2 in the Independence Island Series.  It can be read as a stand alone with no issues, but characters from Book 1 do make an appearance.

For me, this book checked off most of the boxes I have for looking for a good book.  The main character, Beth, receives a surprise inheritance.  Who does not secretly wish for that to happen to them?  She loves to cook.  Me, too!  She moves to the island and becomes reacquainted with her old, good looking friend from vacationing there.  I love good looking men (LOL)!  Most importantly, spiritual and life lessons are sprinkled throughout this entire uplifting story.

Author Wardwell has a delightful writing style.  I was immediately invested in the story.  Beth and Scott were relatable, genuine, and lovable characters.  Conversations were smooth, and one of my favorite parts.  Her descriptions of the food made me want some.  They were exceptionally well written.

This tale had mystery, danger, along with romance.  The life lessons are timeless and ones most everyone has tackled.  The romance is sweet and clean.  I would recommend this to anyone.  It gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me.  A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit, but these are my honest words.

About the Book

Scrumptious Independence-sm“Taste and see that the Lord is good.”

And so is Beth’s cooking! It’s a good thing, too. After a lifetime of her family’s smothering embrace, a whole new world opens to her with the passing of her beloved grandmother.

Armed with an inheritance she never expected and orders on how to use it, Beth sets off for Merriweather Island and fulfillment of a lifetime of dreams.

Or so she hopes.

What she didn’t hope for was what most women would—a man who fills her thoughts at the most wonderfully unwelcome times. She doesn’t have tme or space for a relationship, but how do you tell love to just go away?

Of course, starting over in a new place is never easy, especially as an outsider in a small community. Add to that a mayor who has her dander up and a woman bound to make her life miserable, is it any wonder that Beth begins to doubt God’s and Gram’s plans?

With her heart betraying her resolve and challenges to her faith, Beth finds it takes bravery she didn’t know she had to discover just how scrumptious independence can be.

This “Merriweather book” is the second in a new series featuring five islands, six authors, and a boatload of happily-ever-afters.

The Independence Island Series: beach reads aren’t just for summer anymore.

More from Melissa

“Lord, I don’t know how I can keep doing this.”

That was my prayer one evening in 2019 as I made my way to praise practice. I knew that writing was something God had called me to (because He never seems to call you to do something you enjoy) but the finances were just not there to publish another book. I felt lost in the uncertainty of the path moving forward and I needed a light. I had just shared all my concerns with my parents and left with my dad’s words ringing in my head. Are you writing to gain notoriety or are you writing for God?

The next morning, CelebrateLit had a post looking for submissions for a new and innovative series. Hope burst within me and I know I needed more information. I followed instructions and spoke with Sandy Barela and Chautona Havig. The more I was told, the more excited I became because I knew I needed to be part of this collection.

Ideas were hatched, characters began to talk, and a book proposal was sent. I continued to work on the development of characters and the mobile business knowing in my heart that God had given me this opportunity. I wouldn’t do things halfway. And when the confirmation email came, I was ready to share the beautiful story and characters that developed.

Beth is a food truck proprietor, so that means she spends most of her time cooking. In an effort to grow her recipes, I have been making videos of me cooking some of our family’s favorites as well as raiding my mom’s recipe box. The result is some amazing food to share.

Every book, pre-order card, and my YouTube channel has recipes on it. And so will this tour.

With it being summertime, our family doesn’t want those heavy meals so sometimes chips and sandwiches are all we need in the evenings. One favorite is my chicken salad.

Now, this recipe is easily substituted with other things like however, you like your chicken.

Melissa’s Chicken Salad

Feeds 4 (unless you have big eaters.)

2 cans of chicken (you can use cooked but this is quick and easy

1/2 cup of red grapes – halved

1/2 cup celery – diced

Make sure you rinse all of this well as you prep the salad

Dressing

1 1/2 cup of miracle whip (you can use mayo)

1/2 tsp mustard powder

1 tbsp white vinegar

1 tsp of sugar

Mix everything together and serve on your favorite bread option or on a bed of lettuce. I like mine in a pita pocket or on lettuce. This time it was with a pita pocket with a side of lightly salted chips and a pickle.

Now, just a little side note, you can add what ever veggie or fruit you like. Apples and cucumbers would be a great addition as well. So, don’t feel like you have to do things exactly like I do. Make it your own.

Bon appétit

To Love a Prince Celebrate Lit Book Tour and Giveaway

To Love a Prince by best selling author author Rachel Hauck is a Christian Contemporary Royal Romance. It is the first book in her True Blue Royal Series. I am totally mesmerized by the cover. Aren’t you?

This is the tale of Daffodil (Daffy) Caron. She grew up playing in the palace and is now the Royal trust officer. It is her responsibility to oversee all of the former wedding dresses. What a dream job!

Augustus (Gus) is the Prince and has been through an emotional and humiliating situational. He heads to America for some healing. After a total change of appearance and attitude, he runs into Daffy on the beach. She convinces her old friend to go home.

Expect a spiritual message woven throughout this beautiful modern day fairy tale. Life lessons are timeless. The intrigue is intense and had me on the edge of my seat turning page after page.

I enjoy the writer’s style. It has a nice even flow to it. Her descriptions are on point and whisked me away to a make believe kingdom. Her characters are so realistic and believable that I was immediately invested in the story.

This is a fabulous story, and I highly recommend it. Readers will be entertained and inspired. This would make a delightful reading group selection. It receives a 5 out of 5 star rating from me. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

About the Book

Book:  To Love a Prince Hauck

Genre:  Royal Romance

Release Date: August 11, 2020

An enchanting new royal romance from NYT bestselling author Rachel Hauck

Daffodil Caron is not a princess, even though she once dreamed of being one. After all, she grew up as a playmate to royal princes, running through the halls of Perrigwynn Palace and dining with the queen. But the day she stumbled upon a royal secret, everything changed.

Flash forward eighteen years, and Daffy’s living a sweet, non-royal life. A skilled art curator for the Royal Trust, she has friends, a flat in the heart of the city, and a handsome, successful fiancée. The last person on her mind is Gus, a prince she once called her best mate.

HRH Prince Augustus is no longer “Prince Pudgy,” as caricaturized by the press, he’s charming and gorgeous, possessing a world-famous smile. But when he’s jilted at the altar by an American heiress as millions of people around the world watched, the spare heir to Lauchtenland’s ancient House of Blue escapes, finding solace on a Florida beach.

A year as a regular bloke allows him to rethink his purpose. He’s half decided his calling is to pour pints at a tiki bar, rather than serving his country and the Family.

Until an accident on the beach with a Frisbee changes his course.

Despite his long hair and beard, Daffy recognizes her prince, and their childhood friendship is renewed. She assures Gus Lauchtenland needs him, giving him the courage to return home.

When Daffy and Gus find themselves on assignment to Hadsby Castle in preparation for his brother’s wedding, their friendship blooms into affection.

But Gus cannot, will not, trust his heart again. Daffy’s engaged. And she also remains a royal family outcast because she knows the Queen’s secret.

When affection grows into love and secrets are exposed, trust is destroyed. Gus must choose which is stronger: the lies of his past or the hope of his future. And Daffy must face every fear to prove she will forever love a prince.

More from Rachel

Hello Royal Rockstar Readers!

I’m thrilled to share To Love A Prince with you. So many of you who loved the Royal Wedding Series have asked for more royals so as I noodled over new story ideas, my thoughts drifted toward princes and princesses. What’s more romantic than a royal wedding?

This royal story, the first book in a new series, True Blue Royal, is set in a new fictional country, Lauchtenland, in the North Sea. I’m really squeezing all those oil wells currently occupying that body of water.

The beauty of royal stories is they remind us of who we really are: princes and princesses. There is always a point in the story where the royal character, as well as the commoner, must come to grips with his and her true identity! Who God says we are!

Stories are a powerful reflection of life and it’s fun to insert ourselves into the tale. While fiction employs a lot of hyperbole we can find ourselves on the page somewhere, somehow.

Thanks for going on this little tour with me and To Love A Prince. You are so vital to my story as an author. Thank you!

Yours,

Rachel

Hearts on Lonely Mountain Blog Tour & Giveaway

My Thoughts

Hearts on Lonely Mountain by author A.M. Heath is a Christian Historical Romance Fiction.  I was immediately captivated by the story, history, and lessons that this inspiring  novella offers.  It is one of the best that I have read this year.

This is the tale of Nashville city girl, Ivory Bledsoe.  The year is 1936 and she signs up to go to Willow Hollow to help with their fledgling library program.  She has gathered boxes of books and magazines to stock the puny library.  She has a heart for reading, books, and helping.

The people in the Hollow are skeptical of new people or outlanders.  They have been taught folklore and superstitions for generations.  Unfortunately for Ivory, she receives the blame for an incident and now everyone in town shuns her – everyone except the serious, man of faith Ben Thrasher and his energetic nephew, Gerrit.

2716A65A-2AEE-4C1A-BE62-D340E57976A2

The faith message in this book is beautiful.  There are many timeless life lessons to ponder.  I adore Christian books that do not hide or dilute the message of faith.  This one lets it shine brightly.

It is obvious that the author has done extensive research on the horseback librarian program, area, and time period.  I learned many things from this exceptional work.  This is another thing that I love when reading, the gleaning of information.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style.  It was inviting from the very start.  Her characters were realistic and relatable.  The conversations were smooth and sounded authentic.  From the adept descriptions I was whisked away to a time and place in the past and I made many friends.

This is a great book for anyone.  I highly recommend it and will be watching for more from this talented storyteller.  It definitely receives 5 out of 5 stars from me.  A copy was provided by the author, but these are my own, honest words.

Book 3 of 4 in Librarians of Willow Hollow Series

September 1, 2020

Can two lonely people find more than a fleeting friendship or will a prejudiced town keep them apart?

B1813B9B-6733-4B6D-8C8A-D4A16339310A

When Ivory Bledsoe left the city to minister to the people of the rural mountain town of Willow Hollow, she never expected to be shunned rather than welcomed. Seeing the town as a lost cause, she’s eager to return home, but when the bridge leading out of town is washed away during a flood, she finds herself stranded in the last place she wants to be.

Ben Thrasher was content with his quiet life until he met the new librarian. He can’t help but be drawn to the friendly and lively Ivory Bledsoe, despite her being at the center of the town’s latest superstition. It’s only a matter of time until she captures his heart, turning his world upside down in the process.

Has Ivory gotten God’s plan for her all wrong or is there still a way she can serve these people? And can Ben ask her to stay in a place where so few are willing to embrace her?

Rescued Hearts Celebration Lit Book Tour and Giveaway

My Thoughts

Rescued Hearts by author Hope Toler Doughtery is a Christian contemporary suspense romance novel. The cover is dark and threatening with a small kitten waving its tale in warning.  I knew immediately this would be no light, sweet romance.

This is the story of Mary Wade (“two names”) Kimball.  At the opening of the book she is biking home after a pedicure and hears a cat crying because it is tangled.  She stops to rescue it and WHAM!  Mary Wade finds herself kidnapped.  Wow, what a beginning to a book.  It captured my attention immediately.

Brett Davis is the hunky undercover agent working the case that has Mary Wade herself tangled in with two bad men.  He abandons his missions to save her and the book takes off on a twisting and turning tale.

I enjoyed the author’s style of writing.  It flows along at a nice even pace.  Her characters are well defined and relatable.  I especially enjoyed the spunky grandmother?  The  conversations were smooth and sounded genuine.  There were a few surprise twists and turns to keep it interesting.  The ending seemed to pave the way for another book.  When you read the story you will understand my reasoning.

I would recommend this to any adult that enjoys contemporary fiction.  Because of the attempted rape subject, “medicinal” use and keeping alcohol in the home, I would not recommend this for teenage readers.  It receives 4 stars from me.  Celebrate Lit provided a copy, but these are my honest words.

More from Hope

I live in the country on land my great grandfather owned. For exercise, I ride my bike on our two-lane roads. One afternoon a few years ago, I took a detour off the paved road and onto a dirt path not too far from my house.

The lane meanders by the location of a distant cousin’s long-since demolished house. Trees and a few bushes still outline the phantom house’s parameters, but no boards or bricks mark the spot. Farm equipment waits under nearby shelters.

As I passed the lonely trees and silent tractors, a creepy sensation tickled the back of my neck. My imagination kicked into gear. What if a bike rider rode by an abandoned house? What if she saw a kitten entangled in a honeysuckle vine at the porch steps? What if, while she tried to free the kitten, someone grabbed her and dragged her inside where she was beaten and threatened with rape?

My pedaling picked up speed, and I reached home in record time.

Those questions continued popping up in my mind, however. I began seeing the characters, then hearing them speak every night as I dropped off to sleep. I’d never written a romantic suspense story before, but the characters refused to leave me alone.

Those initial questions led to the first chapter of Rescued Hearts.
